Learn about the fascinating world of owls and their prey. Learn about their habits, adaptations, and the role they play in nature. Join us as we practice owl calls and dissect a real owl pellet.
This program for preschoolers, elementary school-aged children, tweens and anyone else who would like to attend. Homeschoolers encouraged to attend!
Why would we do this? Because…..
Owls eat small insects and animals – WHOLE! They eat the feathers or fur, and the exoskeleton.
Owls cannot digest the bones or the feathers/fur, so these are regurgitated 12 hours after they’ve eaten.
So the pellets they expel is a story of what the owl has eaten.
Please note: there will be no live owls. We hope you were able to attend Wild About Thoreau where we did have a live birds of prey demonstration on 9/30.
Please register by emailing pchenevert @ cwmars.org or by calling the Berlin Public Library (978) 838-2812. Walk-ins welcome!
The Friends of the Berlin Public Library invite you to their book and bake sale. All proceeds go to supporting library programming for children and adults. The Friends haves supported programs with “mad scientists,” music through the ages, birds of prey, and many other enriching and entertaining programs! Stop in, browse, say hello, and consider joining the Friends (starting at a $10 donation. See you soon!
