Dog Licenses

General Information

Dog licenses must be purchased annually.  All licenses from the previous year expire on March 31st, and new licenses must be purchased prior April 1st of the current year.  Licenses purchased after April 1st will be assessed a late fine of $5.00, and licenses purchased after May 1st will be assessed a late fine of $25.00.

Dog licenses are typically available in the Town Clerk's Office starting the 1st of January each year.

To save the Town postage money, please include your email address so dog license reminders can be emailed.

The license fees are (male/female) $11.00 and (neutered/spayed) $7.00.

Licenses are renewable by mail (with a self-addressed stamped envelope included) or in person at the office with a current rabies certificate.

With a current rabies certificate on file dog licenses can be purchased online here with a credit card for a small fee or withdrawn from your checking account with no fee. Nashoba contracts for a dog and cat rabies clinic each spring, dog licenses can be purchased at the same time.

If you are over the age of 70 you are eligible for a free dog license in Berlin.  Please contact the Clerk's Office directly for your free license (TownClerk@TownOfBerlin.com or 978-838-2931).  You cannot order a free license through the online payment system.
