Assessing Department – Property Lister
The Assessors Department seeks a qualified candidate to serve the office as a Property Lister. The position requires a detail oriented person with excellent customer service skills. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) interior and exterior inspections of property, tracking building permit data, taking digital photos, and data entry of collected data, other duties as assigned.
The position is 25 hours with benefits. The rate of pay range is $19.20 to $22.93 per hour depending on experience. Must have a valid driver’s license.

General Description: The Children’s and Young Adult Librarian manages the day to day functioning of children’s library services. This position is responsible for collection development and management of materials for the children’s and young adult collection. The Town of Berlin Library is currently accepting applications for the position of Library Page at the Berlin Public Library. The Grade I/Step 1 position ($11.00/hour) is for 2-6 hours per week during Library hours.
The work includes shelving of library materials, shelf maintenance, and performing clerical tasks. Also may occasionally provide simple directions to patrons. Pages may be asked to perform simple physical tasks to support library programs or procedures. The work is performed under direct supervision and requires no prior knowledge of library procedures. May be asked to perform simple circulation desk duties. Does related work as required or requested. See attached Position Description here.

The Town of Berlin is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Building Inspector to take office effective July 1, 2017. Administrative, supervisory, and inspection skills related to enforcement and interpretation of the state building code, local bylaws, zoning bylaws, and all applicable federal, state, and local rules and regulations is required. Must have 5 years of supervisory experience in building construction, or have completed a four year undergraduate education from an accredited college or university in a field related to building construction; or any combination of training and experience so as to demonstrate possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the work. Successful candidate must possess a valid Massachusetts driver’s license, a Construction Supervisor’s License and Massachusetts Certification as a Building Commissioner. The position is non-union. POSITION FILLED: Public Safety Administrative Assistant
The Town of Berlin Police and Fire Departments are together currently accepting applications for one shared full time Administrative Assistant. Responsibilities include routine to complex administrative support, clerical, secretarial and record keeping work related to the function of the office of the Police/Fire Chief and the operation of the Public Safety Departments, assist walk-in, and other tasks as deemed necessary. The position may require work outside of normal business hours to accommodate workflow fluctuations.
Minimum requirements of a high school diploma supplemented by courses in office procedures, typing, computers and undergraduate courses in business administration or related field. Three years of progressive clerical and administrative experience; experience dealing with the public preferred. Applicants must be able to pass a thorough background investigation.
