PROCLAMATION -- Fran Gill Day

BERLIN SELECT BOARD PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS Frances “Fran” (DeAngelis) Gill has lived in the heart of the Town of Berlin on Woodward Avenue from 1964 until earlier this year where she and her (late) husband Robert F. Gill raised three children - Robert, Nancy and Richard;

WHEREAS Fran Gill has served the Town of Berlin both as an Election Worker (2009 to 2020) and as a member of the Council on Aging (2017 to 2020); 

WHEREAS Fran Gill was a founding member of the Town of Berlin Housing Partnership. From the time of its inception in 1987, Fran has worked in furtherance of the promotion and development of affordable housing at a time when Berlin had 5.7% of its housing inventory within reach to low-income residents (33 years later, the Town has tripled that to 16.99% in 2020);

WHEREAS Fran Gill founded and managed the volunteer-led non-profit Berlin Family Food Pantry in 2011, which has served so many of Berlin’s residents in times of difficulty by ensuring access to food and assistance for individuals and families with integrity and dignity; and

WHEREAS Fran Gill has established a new homestead this year, Fran remains a beloved neighbor and dear friend to the citizens of the Town of Berlin who are forever indebted to her for her great service to the community;

NOW, THEREFORE we, the Berlin Select Board proclaim
