Delinquent Taxes

Real Estate

If Real Estate taxes are not paid by the due date, interest will be charged at 14% on any unpaid balance with a per diem for each day delinquent. Demand bills are mailed with a $15 demand charge and additional interest. If the taxes remain unpaid, the tax collector may advertise and place them in the tax title. Personal Property

If Personal Property taxes are not paid by the due date, interest will be charged at 14% on any unpaid balance with a per diem for each day delinquent. Demand bills are mailed with a $15 demand charge and additional interest. If the taxes remain unpaid, the tax collector may issue a warrant with additional fees and fines or not renew or issue a license or permit until all delinquent taxes are current by the town bylaw.

Excise Tax

If excise taxes are not paid by the due date, interest will be charged at 12%. Partial payments are not acceptable. Bill must be paid in full. Demand bills are mailed with a $15 demand charge and additional interest. If excise taxes remain unpaid, the tax collector turns over the delinquency to the Deputy Collector with additional fees added to the bill. If the excise tax remains unpaid after the service of the warrant by the deputy, then the bill is marked at the registry and will affect the renewal of your motor vehicle registration or driver’s license.
