Voter Registration

State required registration sessions will be held prior to all Town Meetings, Town Elections, State Primaries and State Elections. Mail-in voter registration forms are outside the Town Clerk’s office for your convenience.

THINK AHEAD - PLAN AHEAD:

If you need an absentee ballot, either you or a family member can apply for one. Unless you vote absentee in the office, all absentee ballots must be mailed

If you want to fax your request (978) 838-0014, include the date, your legal name, voting address, a mail-to address, and your signature. Please allow as much notice as possible, to receive and/or mail back the ballot. If you are out of the country, a ballot can be emailed for faxed.

The “Help America Vote Act” has a personal identification requirement that a voter provide as proof of your name and Berlin address ID at the election, if you registered through the mail and it is the first time you are voting.

If you check off absentee for all elections this year and change your address after the initial ballot, unless you notify the Town Clerk, all subsequent ballots will be sent to the address on record. If you are enrolled in a party, you will receive the ballot for that party. If you would like to change parties, please note that this must be done prior to the registration deadline for an election for the change to take effect.

If you are unenrolled for a primary, please note which ballot you would like to receive.  You will not become a member of that party, and will remain an unenrolled voter after casting your ballot.

If you receive a notification indicating that your absentee ballot has been sent, but do not receive your ball it within 7 days, please contact the Town Clerk's Office immediately.  Another ballot will be sent as soon as possible.  Please fill out which ever ballot you receive first.  Please note: Only one ballot shall be counted per voter.

We encourage absentee voters to notify the Town Clerk's Office once they have sent their ballot back to us via the mail.  This allows us to determine whether or not a replacement ballot should be sent in the event that the marked ballot does not make it back to us within a reasonable time.
