MA Central Rail Trail (MCRT)

MASSACHUSETTS DCR NOTICE:

The former rail right of way, from Waltham to Coburn Street in Berlin, is owned by the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority (MBTA).

In 2010, the MBTA as owner, granted a non-exclusive lease to the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR), granting DCR the right to develop a multi-use pathway on the corridor.

DCR has been working with municipalities along this corridor to move the Massachusetts Central Rail Trail (MCRT) project forward.

DCR has completed the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act (MEPA) process, and developed an initial conceptual trail corridor layout which largely follows the track center line.
