Notice of Public Hearing
In accordance with the provisions of M.G.L. Chapter 148, Section 13, the Berlin Board of Selectmen will conduct a public hearing on Monday, March 6, 2017 at 7:15 p.m. in Room 206 the Berlin Town Offices, 23 Linden Street, Berlin, Massachusetts to consider the application of Energy North Group amendment to remove existing underground fuel storage tanks, pipes and fixtures and replace with storage capacity as follows: (1) one split gasoline storage tank holding 15,000 gallons and 6,000 gallons respectively of gasoline for 21,000 gallons total and (2) a second tank capable of storing 10,000 gallons of diesel fuel at 265 Central Street, Berlin, MA (the “Land”).
If granted, said license shall run with the Land. Said application can be viewed by clicking here. Any person interested or wishing to be heard on the proposed plan should appear at the time and place designated above.

Community Choice Power Supply Program
The Town of Berlin is pleased to announce that Verde Energy USA has been selected as the supplier for its Community Choice Power Supply Program. Verde Energy USA will provide electric power supply for all Basic Service consumers in Berlin.
Check your mailbox for an envelope with the Town Seal on it. It contains information about the Program including a Consumer Notification Letter and Opt-Out Reply Card.
BASIC SERVICE CONSUMERS do not need to take any action to participate. You will automatically be enrolled.

Invitation for Bid #2 Heating Oil – Delivered
The Town of Berlin is seeking bids for approximately 20,000 gallons of #2 heating oil to be delivered to various municipal buildings. Only full service companies that provide installation and equipment servicing as well as 24-hour emergency service will be considered. Bids for oil burner service to be sealed and submitted separately. Bid packages may be emailed by contacting email@example.com.
All bids shall be clearly marked “HEATING OIL” and/or “OIL BURNER SERVICE” in sealed envelopes, and will be received by Mary Arata, Administrative Secretary, Board of Selectmen’s Office, 23 Linden Street, Berlin, MA 01503 by Noon on Thursday, June 9. New Municipal Town Highway Building – Advertisement
The Town of Berlin invites sealed bids from General Contractors for the 13,460 SF pre-engineered New Municipal Town Highway Building in Berlin MA, in accordance with the documents prepared by HELENE·KARL Architects, Inc. The building will accommodate administrative offices, vehicle repair garage and vehicle storage garage. The goal is to make the building a net zero energy (NZE) building. The work is estimated to cost $3,700,000. Bids are subject to M.G.L. c.149 §44A-J & to minimum wage rates as required by M.G.L. c.l49 §§26 to 27H inclusive. Pole Hearing – April 19, 2016 – National Grid
The Board of Selectmen will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at 7:15 p.m., at the Berlin Town Office Building, 23 Linden St., to act on the petition of National Grid to locate poles, wires, and fixtures, including the necessary sustaining and protecting fixtures, along and across the public way River Road, in accordance with National Grid Work Request Number 21356870, dated March 23, 2016.

2016 MABEL FELTON MARBLE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
The Berlin Board of Selectmen is accepting applications for the 2016 Mabel Felton Marble Memorial Scholarship.
Applicants must be a 2016 female graduating high school student residing in the Town of Berlin who is planning on continuing her education at either a college or vocational school.
Applications are available at the Guidance Departments at Tahanto Regional High School and Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School, and can also be downloaded here.

REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS AND PROPOSALS (RFP) Fire Chief Search Process
The Town of Berlin is issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) from qualified consulting firms and individuals to conduct a search, screening and assessment center process to hire the new Chief of the Berlin Fire/ EMS/Emergency Management Department.
Berlin was first settled in 1665 and was officially incorporated in 1812. The Town of Berlin encompasses 13.1 square miles and has a population of 2,900 residents. Berlin is home to the Solomon Pond Mall and Highland Commons where Cabela’s is located. (more…)
Biomass Boiler Proposed for Berlin Memorial School
The Berlin School Committee is considering application for a Saphire grant to convert the Berlin Memorial Elementary heating system from oil-fired to compressed wood pellets. Read about the proposal here.
The Berlin Board of Selectmen is the issuing authority for several licenses. Please complete the General License Application and the Workers Comp Form, and provide a copy of your certificate of insurance:
- Common Victualler – $25.00
- Entertainment (Live) – $100.00
- Public Amusement – $100.00
- Auto Amusement Devices – $20/device – you must also send a listing of all titles and serial numbers for each machine
- Sunday Ice Cream – $5.00
- Junk Dealer – $25.00
- Auctioneer – $25.00
For new/revised motor vehicle sales licenses, please use the following form Berlin Class I/II/III License App. Annual motor vehicle license renewals require the General License Application, Workers Comp Form, and payment of a fee as follows:
- Class I – $50.00
- Class II – $25.00
- Class III – $50.00
For new/revised alcohol licenses, please follow ABCC directives and file with the Selectmen’s Office, which serves as the Local Licensing Authority for the Town of Berlin. The ABCC portal is http://www.mass.gov/abcc/forms.htm.
Alcohol renewal fees:
- Section 12 restaurant/”on site” license renewal – $1,000.00
- Section 15 retail/”off site” license renewal – $1,250.00
For One Day / Non-Profit Alcohol Licenses, please complete and submit this form.
Licenses generally expire on December 31st. It is your responsibility to timely file with the Selectmen’s Office to renew your licensees. Documentation with proper payment (payable to “Town of Berlin”) should be sent to:
