LONG RANGE STRATEGIC GOALS

and 2004-2005 Objectives

 

Goal 1

Student Achievement:  To increase the % of students who score in the proficient and advanced categories of MCAS test. (Target% increases set by each school council and included in its School Improvement Plan.)

Objectives:

           1.1 To design a district-wide standards-based assessment system in mathematics.

           1.2 To apply differentiated instruction strategies in reading, math and special curriculum areas, K - 6.

           1.3 To align curriculum and establish science achievement benchmarks for Grades 6-10.

 

Goal 2

Facilities: To provide safe and appropriate educational facilities for Berlin-Boylston students, staff and community.

Objectives:

           2.1 To identify, prioritize, and determine costs to address immediate facility deficiencies at Tahanto.       

           2.2 To prepare for and seek community commitment for applying for state School Building Assistance funding for a building project at Tahanto.

           2.3 To develop and implement maintenance, and operations plans for each building.

 

Goal 3

Communications: To improve internal and external communications within the school district and community.

Objectives:

            3.1 To enhance the current website (http://www.bbrsd.org) to include both Berlin and Boylston elementary schools. 

            3.2 To improve communication among teachers within the three schools.

            3.4 To increase community outreach efforts.

 

Goal 4

Finance: To maximize the utilization of available and potential funds.

Objectives:

            4.1 To improve the efficiency of curriculum delivery.

            4.2 To provide financial stability for core programs.

            4.3 To identify and develop other potential cost savings and/or sources of income.
