The Town of Berlin, MA seeks energetic, creative, and capable applicants for the position of Children’s and Young Adult Librarian.
General Description: The Children’s and Young Adult Librarian manages the day to day functioning of children’s library services. This position is responsible for collection development and management of materials for the children’s and young adult collection. Other responsibilities include planning children’s and teen programming, implementing the summer reading program and providing circulation services.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a thorough knowledge of public library services and programs; solid general education and familiarity with children’s literature and resources, including those available online; and a strong commitment to excellence in customer service. Candidates must have the ability to work efficiently both independently and as a team member. The ability to interact courteously and effectively with library staff, volunteers, library vendors, town employees and the general public is essential to success.
Experience & Training: At least two years’ experience in working with children in a library or school setting and solid experience in children’s programming and with the use of Microsoft Office, the Internet, social media, and library systems (Evergreen preferred) is essential.
Salary: $18.23-$23.28 per 18 hour work week commensurate with experience.
